Lucian has 3 simple rules.

1. Don't screw up

2. Tell your story

3. Be competent

And then 3 additional rules.

1. Be light

2. Don't be a scene stealer

3. End in a flourish

It was unexpected really, how much Arya admired Lucian, an older gentleman who in her mind embodied the perfect example of competence. It was almost exactly how she craved to carry herself. But that didn't quite make sense, since she had female parts.

First there was the face. Human symmetry, she decided was crucial for survival. Lucian's symmetry governed his movements, expressions and speech. It was very important to have even eyes, a straight nose and a set of perfect teeth. If a person had perfect teeth, they'd have a perfect jawline and therefore, have the ability to speak clearly, chew their food properly and digest their meals with the proper enzymes.

Secondly, there was practice. Lucian was an undeniable expert. Arya couldn't help but break Lucian's first rule over and over again. She secretly enjoyed being a screw up. There was a simple logic to her madness, which is that, if she failed to screw up, she'd fail to come up with a story in time to climb the ladder of competence.

Lastly, Arya tried to be light but sometimes she was heavy. She was a notorious scene stealer until she met two other scene stealers who were all the more ostentatious for it. She decided it was much better to be a scene setter. It would smack of conceit for Arya to claim to know how to end in a flourish.

There were 3 more rules.

1. Don't be a brown nose.

2. Don't be obnoxious.

3. Don't be obsequious.
